    Asian: Let the legend continues...

1st June of the year. Marking half of the past and the remaining half of the year. What to say... Time flies!!! It  speaks of numbers and I see it as the power of numbers in our being. Back to the years when Annie Lennox made hit the song with lyrics 'I traveled the world and the seven seas... hmmm'..., I started wondering whether if there were only seven seas. And yet in the Asian traditions and beliefs, the number 7 [seven] plays a vast amount of role especially to the Malay archipelagos custom and life.

Among the Malays speaking countries. The legend of 7 deities from the fairyland came down to earth to bathe in the lake is widely talked. Yet some people claimed that the exact part of earth is in Indonesia. It is said that the 7 deities descended to The Colorful Lake [Telaga Warna] in Dieng Plateau. In fact, "Dieng" means "abode of the gods". Doesn't it make sense? I bought a piece of the Indonesian batik drawing of that particular legend. The artist suggested to me to also buy a drawing showing the post session of the bathing when the eldest of the deities spread paddy on the land. This was believed to help prosper the land.

Well said then. I guess the legend must have been shared across to the people of Borneo: Sabah 'The Land Below The Wind'. The Legend of Huminodun: The Princess of God [Kinoingan] of the Kadazans. It reflects the story of spreading paddy to prosper the land. A part from Huminodun deed reliven through the Unduk Ngadau (a beauty contest). The final stage seeing 7 beauties crowned for the purpose assigned respectively to the ladies. I think one legend is a completion of the other. And the legend continues...
